Our House was designed in the mid-60's by Emilio Castro. It was recently restored to conserve this interesting example of the brutalist style of domestic architecture. It is a rare work by this very prestigious Cuban architect. He is especially known for designing baseball stadiums with a capacity of 10000 people in various Cuban cities. This style blends with his own ideological beliefs of social utopias with socialistic characteristics, influenced by the work of architects such as Le Corbusier, Eero Saarinen as well as Alison and Peter Smithson.

The house has three bedrooms; one double and one single bedroom are situated on the upper floor of the house, and one double bedroom which is on the ground floor. There are three bathrooms in the house, one of them located upstairs and the other two on the ground floor of the house. The accommodation is such that it could form two entirely separate spaces sharing the common areas such as living room, dining room, kitchen and gardens. Breakfast and daily cleaning services are included in the price. Catering services can be provided for an extra charge. The house is fully equipped to host private parties, receptions and dinners, with a capacity for 15-25 people.

This catalogued example of heritage architecture is complemented with original furniture of the 50’s as well as decorative elements of the 30’s and 40’s. Further, on the walls there is a selection of Cuban contemporary visual arts on its walls, by internationally renowned artists as well as emerging artists who can be found in some of the best Latin American art collections.

The design of common spaces, both spatially and functionally, facilitates both independence and also enjoyment for a partners or a group of friends.

The purpose of the house is none other than to provide visitors a flavour of the enormous sensitivity of Havana in which the raw interest of the dialogue between artistic disciplines, is transmuted into a space of ease in which the visitor is surrounded by beauty, harmony and serenity.

The attention paid to guests will be shaped according to the guests’ individual needs but at the same time total discretion and independence of the individual will be ensured. The service staff will leave the house once their work is finished. Reception of the guests will be at the house or at the Jose Marti airport in La Havana. Professional assistance is provided to solve any queries or problems encountered.

The aim is that the traveller will feel at home, get to know Cojímar village, its surroundings, and discover Havana during your stay, “infected by the fascination those who knows how to live in the most wonderful city in the world” (from the movie “Fresa y Chocolate” - Strawberry and Chocolate).

Our House is located in 29th Street in the Cojimar village (“Habana del Este” - East Havana) between Máximo Gomez and Martí Real Street which leads to Via Monumental which is the main road to the city and Monumental Avenue. The house is a ten minute drive away from the centre of Havana, a ten minute drive to Bacuranao Beach, a fifteen minute drive to Mi Cayito GAY beach Santa María Beach and only a five minute walk to Cojimar Bay.

Car rental with or without driver is recommended. Comfortable and secure parking is offered, both on and off the property. The quarter has night security service.

Cojímar village in 19th century with its beautiful landscape and the quality of its mineral waters became an elegant spa. The prestigious Hotel Campoamor was opened in 1907, and it is currently being restored. This village has been immortalized by Ernest Hemingway in "The Old Man and the Sea" (1952). A novel that incorporates many of the Nobel Prize Winner’s anecdotes of life in Cojimar, the little fishing village just 10 km east of Havana where he kept his yacht "Pilar" It was from here with the company of local seamen that he enjoyed his favourite pastime, fishing and exchanging stories.
